“The sort of old fashioned suspense drama calculated to raise the fur on the back of your neck. . . .
A creepy dramatic adventure.” – New York Post

Timothy Timmony is the elderly, cultured proprietor of a book shop in a Sydney area that is being redeveloped, the last building still standing. Simon Matthews, an uncultured but not insensitive adventurer, comes to the shop in pursuit of a particular volume at closing time. Just as Simon discovers that the book been sold to his arch enemy, the landlord locks he and Timmony in the building for the night. It soon becomes obvious that the book contains a code which identifies the whereabouts of an invaluable artefact. Through the night the two combatants manoeuvre for position…

Throwing Shade Theatre Company (Disco Pigs, No Exit, Vincent River) brings a thrilling two-hander to the Sydney stage from Tuesday 25th April 2017. Directed by Tom Richards, Down an Alley Filled with Cats stars Gabriel Egan (My Bed is a Crocodile) and William Jordan (Metamorphosis, Blackbird).

“‘Down an Alley Filled with Cats’ is an Australian classic,” says director Tom Richards. “It’s a stylish cat-and-mouse drama, a taut, sinister and suspenseful adventure. It’s a comedy thriller laced with snappy humour, and a slew of plot twists to keep audiences guessing – the unexpected is quickly part of the expectation.

“Despite being an award winning and critically acclaimed show, ‘Down an Alley Filled with Cats’ has not been produced in Australia in over two decades. What a coup then it would be for King St Theatre to revive the show, unearthing a long forgotten masterwork of Australian theatre. We think it’s time to bring this show to a new audience.”

“A tight, bright play.”  –  The New York Times

“Outs Agatha Christie in twists and turns that delight.” – The Australian

“Classy.” – The Dallas Times Herald
